- I think this boils down to bad decision-making on Spirit's part. The gentleman certainly wasn't entitled to a refund (and I'm not sure he deserved one, either), but they could have reviewed his case and, perhaps, come to a resolution without dragging it through the court of public opinion.

- While VA, MA, PA and KY are commonwealths, for the purpose of this, and most any, discussion, there is no difference between them and the other 46 states. The US Constitution treats them all as equals.

- The teacher's race wouldn't justify the comment "I thought you were black." That's where the teacher crossed the line, regardless of her ethnic background. It went from a stage direction, of sorts, to an indictment of the child's identity.

- @99Mel - A human may ultimately be responsible for the crime (if there is one), but if the cause of death is a gunshot wound, it couldn't have been done without a gun. It could have been done without a human. That's not an excuse, it's a clarification.

- He's done nothing heroic that we know of, and his rights only prevent him from being thrown in jail for his speech. They don't give him the right, as a member of the Armed Forces, to speak out publicly against the Commander in Chief.

- Actually, it's not insubordination, but I think his actions should be covered under Article 134, as I recall it. Something about neglects to the prejudice of good order and discipline in the armed forces.
